Hello Basir,

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and for your kind words. Your blog is very powerful. I chose to comment on the particular entry, because amidst all of the beauty on your page, the reality of the pain and suffering in your country is still very real. Your phone of the dismembered leg with the soldiers just walking by is eerie. It's so hard for me to comprehend that kind of numbness toward humanity. You see things on a daily basis that we here in America have no comprehension of what it must be like. It saddens my heart. I wish for you and your country, peace.

I am writing to you to introduce to you The YP Foundation (TYPF) and one of its projects-Bridge the Gap.

TYPF, which was started in 2002 (as The Youth Parliament) in collaboration with the India Habitat Centre, aims to promote and support social entrepreneurship among young people by providing infrasturctural, mentoring and financial resources to young people to conceptualize and execute their own initiatives on issues of global relevance.

Bridge The Gap is a cultural exchange project between Indian and Afghan students based in New Delhi. It aims to engage the two communities through cultural means such as films, literature and discussions with the hope of promoting better cultural understanding, interaction and sensitization between the two communities.

As part of the project we are organising a film festival on 7th and 8th February 2009 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on the theme of 'Understanding Afghanistan Today' . On the days of the festival we wish to set up an art and photography exhibition on the same theme and showcase artwork and photography which focus on the following things:

* Post-2001 development of Afghanistan
* Gender Empowerment
* Cultural regeneration of Afghanistan
* Natural landscape and monuments of Afghanistan
* The culture and people of Afghanistan
* Children and daily life of the people
* Anything else which captures the essence of Afghanistan, its culture and people; the post-Taliban era in Afghanistan and helps in projecting a different image of the country and its people.

We would be really grateful if you would be able to provide us with assistance in this regard by submitting some of your photographs on this particular theme. The exhibition would be on display on both days of the festival and the entry fee would be free of charge.

I have attached more information about the organisation, the project and the logistical details of the exhibition. I look forward to hearing from you with a positive response!

Thank you.

Richa
